CRANE 4.0

Ibox started a new Project “CRANE 4.0” on the 15th and 16th of November with our kick-off meeting hosting several European partners (SGS, MECB Consulting Limited, SQLearn, Polytechnic university of bucharest, and Confindustria Veneto Siav) in our offices in Valencia (Spain).

CRANE 4.0 is a project funded by the European Commission (ERASMUS+ program) that seeks to improve the training of crane operators to adapt to the new e-skills requirements demanded by the sector.

The project aims to improve work-based and initial/continuous learning of crane operators to adapt their skills to the Industry 4.0 skills requirements.

4th Industrial revolution

Europe is currently undergoing the 4th industrial revolution which influences manufacturing and productivity with increased flexibility, mass customisation and increased speed.

Investing in new technologies, research and development can revitalise the competitiveness of the construction sector companies.

CRANE 4.0 will do so through the development of a Virtual Reality (VR) application downloadable from partners’ websites, from the project website and from the main platforms for mobile applications download. The innovative use of VR in the training of crane operators is an added value for all those public and private VET providers who want to offer upskilling pathways to their educators and training.

The project will, in fact, develop not only the VR app but also a set of tools and materials that will support the usability and transferability of the main outputs.

Also, we would like to thank Grúas Rigar for the visit granted on those same days, and the great training provided as they explained to us how they manage the training in-house, as well as the difficulties of loading cranes among many other topics!

We agree on the difficulty of handling cranes once the theory is known and it would be very interesting to start the practices through virtual reality before getting down to business!

At I-Box Create we continue working to improve professional skills and guarantee occupational health.
